Abstract Nouns

What are Abstract Nouns?

Abstract Nouns are nouns that refer to intangible things, such as concepts, ideas, feelings, characteristics, or attributes. They can be perceived but cannot be touched or seen.

examples:

love

anger

hunger

sweetness

diligence

politeness

friendliness

strength

kindness

peace

joy

happiness

These are all abstract nouns. They are all perceptions.

Acts of love, anger, hunger, and sweetness can be seen but not love, anger, hunger, or sweetness themselves. The same applies to the rest of the examples.
